Why hire a Professional Photographer? Featured

Hiring a professional photographer is expensive, so why should you make the investment?

You could just ask everybody to use their phones or put some disposable cameras on all the tables at the reception, and maybe get a friend to do some formal shots for you. Yes you can but you are likely to regret doing this.

You will not get high quality photographs that you can make enlargements from.

You will not get photographs of the critical moments of the day, or the ones you get may not be sharp, well framed, well taken. Your partner’s eyes are closed or she other issue that spoils them.

You will not get help and advice on when  or where to take which photographs.

The wrong people will be in the wrong place when you need them.

You will need to ask all the guests to send you their shots and hope for the best.

When you hire a professional photographer you get much more than great photographs, you get:

An experienced photographer with the needed equipment, knowledge and skills to capture the photographs you want on this once in a life time day.

They will be able to take all the photographs regardless of the location, how light or dark it is or how fast you need to get things done.

Once all the photographs are take, then need to be edited, ordered and packed into an album that you will treasure.

A professional will have a shoot list they will review with you and ensure they get every shot you absolutely want.

A professional will work with you, your family and guests in a professional, friendly manner, keeping everybody at was and minimize the stress.

Professionals have backup plans in the event something unexpected happens.  They will have someone of equal skill to call to make sure you get what you are paying for.

This is one of the biggest moment s in your life, it happens once, there is no redo.  You get one chance to get the best photographs to look back on.  It is an investment in your life.

With this all said, you need to make sure you pick the right professional for you.   Make sure their style matches what you want. Make sure you meet them more than once before ether day.  You need to have confidence and trust in them, then everything will go smoother on the day and the results will be outstanding.

Ensure they are as passionate to photograph your wedding as you are for the day to arrive!

Planning for your wedding is a complex and stress full process. You need to evaluate vendors, locations and services.

One thing that can help is knowing what you want to ask the vendor. When it comes to the photographer here are some questions

and items to discuss:

  • Do you have a particular style in mind for your photographs.  Very casual, formal, photojournalistic? Photographers tend to have a styles making sure what you want and their style match is important.
  • Do you have a list of specific photographs you want taken.  Most photographers will have a shoot list, but you should discuss it and modify it to your wishes.
  • Where do you want the photographs taken? Getting ready is easy, but if you want formal shots, where doe ou to take them?  DO you have a favorite place?  Is it close to the seeding venue?
  • Do you have an idea how many photographs you expect from the day? Make sure your expectation matches what the photographer plans to deliver.
  • Are the specific moments you absolutely want to make sure are captured?  Special shot with specific people? There is no redo, so think about what moments you do not want to miss.
  • Are you following any specific traditions?  Are the some you do not want? Are there specific moments  that are critical that they are captured?
  • Some couples set up a “first Look” for the groom to see the bride in her dress, while other wait until you get to the ceremony.  Decide what you want and make sure you share this with the photographer.
  • After the wedding ceremony do you want to go to a specific location for the couple and family/group shots?  Where is it?  Can you fit it into he schedule? In some case the couple is not leaving  the night of the wedding and dress up the next day for a couple only shoot at a special location.. Make sure to discuss this if you want to do this.
  • Who will be able to help gather folks for group shot on the day?  Ideally someone that knows the required people and can help get them together.
  • Do you want to do an “engagement shoot” sometime before e the wedding.  This is usually more relaxed than the actual wedding, but it also allows you to get more comfortable working with the photographer before the wedding day.
